Nursing Homes – Complaints

If you have a complaint about the facilities, service or the staff in a public nursing home, you should first complain to the nursing home.

Complaints Officer in the nursing home
Most nursing homes have a Complaints Officer who will take your complaint in person, over the phone or in writing. You should contact the nursing home and ask for contact details for the Complaints Officer. The nursing home may have an advocate who can assist you in making the complaint.

The HSE has a complaints procedure called Your Service Your Say and you can expect an update on your complaint within thirty days.

Health Service Executive (HSE) review

If you are unhappy with the recommendations made by the Complaints Officer, you can ask for a review from the HSE
