I have just finished reading Nora Ephron’s very funny book of short essays on being a woman and facing up to the signs of aging as they become ever more visible. It deals with the trials and tribulations of maintenance – of appearance, not financial – menopause, the joy of a good handbag and raises questions such as, “Should you live every day as your last or should you save money on the chance that you’ll live another twenty more years?”. It’s a great read and a wonderful present for your mother, a good humoured mother-in-law or your best friend.
